Used in industrial and comfort applications, they provide substantial energy savings for heating and cooling outside air in facilities with high outside air requirements, such as hotels, conference halls, restaurants, office complexes, indoor swimming pools, hospitals, and factories.

In a crossflow heat exchanger, heat is transferred directly from the exhaust air to the make-up air through the separating walls of the heat exchanger. Both sensible and latent heat may be transferred. Latent heat is recovered when moisture in the exhaust air condenses on the recuperator. Moisture itself is not transferred.
